 DVD/CDR driver

One fine day I realise that the DVD/CD icon from 'My Computer' was missing. Nothing happened when I inserted a CD to check whether the drive was working. It doesnt. I tried installing the driver from the HP website and also tried copying files from a similar laptop but doesnt work. Can anyone please help me? Its very annoying!!!

Thanks!

I think more information is needed to solve your problem and it really doesn't relate to website development, but I'll take a stab. If you're running Windows XP, you may be able to uninstall it in Device Manager, shut down the laptop, and hope it is detected upon reboot.

Failing that, do you have the original setup/restore disks that came with it? Do you have or can you borrow an external drive from someone to run the install disks?

Try searching on expertsexchange for a similar situation to your hardware and OS if these don't work. Best of luck
