 Linksys wireless connectivity

Hi, my names Kyle and I have a problem with my Linksys wireless router. Ok, so, I use my router for my compaq laptop. I've had it hooked up to the same router before and it was perfect. No problems at all. But my mom kinda ruined my laptop. So, we finally got it fixed about a month and a half later, and we hooked it up to the router and everything. But, my problem is that when I'm not near my router, sometimes my connectivity goes out, somewhat often, and when I'm near my router (within about 6 or 7 feet) I get no connectivity at all. Any solutions to get it working full time close to my router and in other rooms full time? I'll take any suggestions.

Uninstall any software you installed for Linksys. Remove your network card if it is removable. Turn off your laptop, shut down completely. Place your network card back in; boot your laptop. Do not install the Linksys software back to your PC. If your Linksys router has a button to automatically detect, use that. You won't be able to define your information manually this way, but Linksys will let you choose the correct encrption. Be sure to write down your key code information. If all is well with your Internet provider and your router, linksys should get your wireless back up and running in no time. Also, it is possible too many people in your vincinity are using the same channel. The default is one. Check to see who else is using Channel 1. If you have serveral users with higher than 55%, then they could be causing the intermittent connection problems. Keep in mind if you use the automatically Linksys button, you will be connected automatically to the default, Channel 1.

If you want to manually setup your wireless again and pick a different channel, then install the Linksys software.

Hopefully you are using Wireless G or above. I also heard their are some issues when using Wireless N. I am not sure if their has been a fix.
