Not that I would ever visit such a site (Heee! Heee!) when the git does decide to try and keep me there, then there is only one solution. Ctrl-F4 and just keep hitting it. Be careful not to go too mad because you may shut down windows.

What about just pressing "ESC". Works fine for me and is always visible. It should be automatic instead, then it would be something new,

I guess this is better late than never........... but I really like this. I hate it when a website won't let me leave.

It also doesn't work if they set an interval to keep setting the unload event handler.
